IMPACT Community Services offers a comprehensive suite of Family Mental Health Support Services (FMHSS) to foster mental health and resilience among children, young people, and their families. These services provide early intervention support to assist vulnerable families with children and young people who are at risk of, or affected by, mental health concerns. FMHSS doesn't require a formal diagnosis of mental health conditions for access, ensuring that help is available to those who may not fit the criteria of diagnosed mental illness but who are in need of support. The team at IMPACT delivers a multi-faceted range of supports, including counseling, crisis intervention, and help in navigating the mental health system, emphasizing the well-being of the entire family unit with a focus on ongoing care and follow-up. For those requiring more targeted assistance, IMPACT’s Intensive Family Support (IFS) service provides holistic support to promote family safety and well-being. It's a voluntary service for families with multiple or complex needs and includes parenting support to build skills and capacity for nurturing and protecting children. FMHSS and IFS prioritize outreach, mental health education, and tailored interventions. They cater to children and young people up to the age of 18, and their families, offering intensive, long-term early intervention, short-term immediate assistance, and community education and development activities. Families from Indigenous or culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as those involved with child protection systems or transitioning from out-of-home care, are given priority. Referrals can be made from any source, including self-referrals, with an initial brief screening process to ensure the suitability of services.
